Abstract

This research focuses on the study of the solid graphic representation of architectural heritage based on additive printing. Using previously generated 3d digital models for virtual representation in the form of infographics and video animations, we seek to address the limitations of 3d printing in the representation of textures and chromatic characteristics compared to previous virtual representations. Starting from the collection of existing data; texts, drawings, prints and pictures, related to the architectural object and depending on the degree of detail and the specific objectives of representation, a multidimensional matrix of attributes is defined. This matrix allows providing or eliminating information variables using other digital technologies of representation and communication (projectors, internet, social networks, multimedia, television …) to achieve the specific results required. In this way the additive impression yields a solid visual result adapted to the needs of representation. In the case that the authors present here, the importance of the printed physical object is studied as an evolution of the previously rendered virtual representations, with a common origin in a digital file, and to understand the scope and impact that the applications of the “objectile” may have in the processes of communication, study and dissemination of architectural heritage [1].
