Abstract

The evaluation of Brazilian public policies and programs has been an indispensable mechanism in the improvement of government management. This theoretical essay aims to discuss the analytical dimensions for evaluating the implementation of public policies and programs in Brazil. The study was built from a bibliographic research, selecting the scientific texts for a critical and reflective reading of the theme for the construction of the analytical dimensions. These dimensions were conceived by analyzing: Formulation content, context, implementation process, resources, social actors involved and scope. The findings are expected to support research that seeks to evaluate the implementation of several Brazilian public policies and programs, according to contextual specificities and limitations.
