Abstract

Novel 10-, 15-, and 20-membered oxygen-containing macrocyclic cobalt complexes (3, 4, and 5 respectively) were obtained in moderate combined yield via double nucleophilic substitution of the hexacarbonyldicobalt-coordinated monoyne diol [{Co2(CO)6(μ-η2-HOCH 2C≡CCH2OH)}] (1) upon BF3•OEt 2 treatment in the presence of (Z)-2-butene-1,4-diol (2) at room temperature. The products distribution was found to be highly concentration dependent. © 2008 by MDPI.
