Abstract

The theory of the bid rent is prevalent in the urban economy, establishing a trade-off between transport costs and income that is transferred to the ground, so that the greater the distance between a point system urban and CBD, the lower the income transferred to the ground. However, this theory in its original sense, the assumption of a monocentric, in which all jobs are located in the center, a paradigm, therefore, far from the present. This article aims to: 1) a set of methods for detecting sub-employment, 2) test the extent to which they exert an influence on the real value of their environment. Since employment data from the metropolitan area of Barcelona (RMB) and residential values were detected between 15 and 26 municipalities as potential subcentres; from here, using a hedonic price model, is tested on the influence of these the spatial distribution of the value of housing. The results highlight the presence of problems multicolinealidad meantime, the distance to the CBD and subcenters some correlation. However, the model built from subcentres detected by the negative exponential function minimizes this problem and will validate, in a polycentric theory of income offered.
