Abstract

In order to realistically simulate sandstorm, which is one kind of natural scene, by computer, the shape and motion state of sand when the sandstorm occurs are studied and analyzed in this topic. The sandstorm simulation system is based on VC++ 6.0 Build environment with OpenGL graphics library as its application program interface. It is adopted particle system to simulate the motion of sand particle and fog function in OpenGL to simulate dim environment. The simulation results show that the system is able to realistically simulate the scene of sandstorm and achieve the balances between real time and authenticity. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH.
