Abstract

This article briefly comments on K. Overy's article (see record 1998-02829-007) on the positive effects of music in "improving" the mind, specificially cognitive abilities, cognitive development and academic achievement. This comment discusses other correlational studies with children that suggest early music training affects brain development. Also, the present author points out neuropsychological factors underlying music-induced enhancement. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved)
