Abstract

We operated WO3 gas sensor at room temperature under UV illumination. The observed increase in conductance is expected to depend on interband electronic transition, being the bandgap of the material smaller than the incident light. Strong evidence that the main phenomenon is instead surface barrier modulation is given in the present work. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.
