Abstract

Women with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) might have an increased tendency to choose an elective abortion due to a fear that their fetus could be harmed by use of medications, disease flares during pregnancy, or for genetic reasons. We examined the risk of elective abortions in women with ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohns disease (CD) compared with women without IBD.
