Abstract

Mercury entering aquatic environment can be transformed bymicroorganisms into toxic methyl-mercury that biomagnifies in aquaticorganisms. Seafood consumption is primary exposure route to mercury forhumans. The most vulnerable groups are unborn and young children. Theaim of this article is to investigate if there possible connection offish consumption and mercury body burden in women of reproductive age inCroatia.
