Abstract

Recently a molecular dynamics (MD) simulation of the liquid-vapor phase separation of a 2-d Lennard-Jones fluid has been performed by Koch, Desai and Abraham. The authors analyse their constant energy simulation data for fractal properties during the phase separation process. They find that the capacity dimension of the largest cluster (i) is nonEuclidean, (ii) is rather insensitive to important dynamical phenomena, and (iii) has a very slow time variation
