Abstract

This paper describes some peculiarities of applied mechanics in Russia at the beginnings of XXth century. Evolution of technical education, training programs, lectures, courses etc. and also birth of famous Russian engineering school are connected closely to the steps that had been made by German scientists. Franz Reuleaux created new approach to classification and systematization of machines and mechanisms, Ferdinand Wittenbauer built strict and fine system of tasking special for engineering education. Their contribution made it possible to develop the “Russian method” of technical education so how it would became in future.
