In this chapter, we provide a high level perspective of collective decision-making strategies and identify the fundamental processes that characterize their functioning. Successively, we propose a minimal modular control structure of a collective decision-making strategy and define a set of guidelines and constraints to support the design of specific modules. Finally, we define a general modeling methodology and show how this methodology can be instantiated to study macroscopic properties of specific strategies.
