Abstract

The study is aimed at developing a complex method of empirical research on the relationship between the two components: Trends, needs of society (and labour market) from the development of supra-professional competencies of employees, and internal needs of University students and recent graduates. The complex methodology of research analyzed in the study includes traditional sociological methods such as comparative and logical analysis, as well as survey and special research methods. In particular, a method based on the content analysis of electronic information sources and further processing of data using descriptive statistics tools. The description of supra-professional skills in the requirements for candidates for filling vacant posts and in reflecting of competencies in the CV of applicants and as well as their semantic combinations related to expectations in the labor market have been selected for the analysis. The proposed methodological approach involves the use of information taken from the Internet as the main data source, but not the only one. This paper presents the analysis of expectations from the development of supra-professional competencies in the labor market of young specialists conducted by random sampling method. For each of 12 economic areas of training, 20 resumes were selected for young specialists (who do not have work experience, and those with 1-3 years of experience) and 20 vacancies for each of the training areas (with similar requirements for experience) in Yekaterinburg. Also, a statistical analysis of student employment data for selected areas of the university was carried out in the dynamics of three years - from 2017 to 2019. An additional analysis method was a sample survey of students in economic areas of university training and employers (narrative interviews) on mutual expectations in the labor market. The survey involved 60 students and 30 representatives of the employers of Yekaterinburg. The theoretical implication of the study consists of validation of effectiveness of the complex methodology proposed by the authors. The managerial implications lie in the elaboration of the recommendations on the allocation of priority directions of work to meet the needs of the modern state economy and companies' economy in the development of professional and supra-professional competencies of young specialists.
