Abstract

This chapter deals with theoretical description of smart devices and new trends in logistics. Smart technologies bring increase in the efficiency, safety, and business performance of industrial companies. Smart devices are a key factor in all logistics processes, particularly in the field of cost reduction, performance enhancement, and market competitiveness. In this chapter the impact of Industry 4.0, future prospects in logistics, radio-frequency identification technology, smart goggles, smart gloves, and autonomous transport vehicles and self-transporting vehicles is summarized. The research methods that are used in the chapter consist of analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction, and comparison. The most important contribution of the chapter is to highlight the new technologies in smart logistics.
