Abstract

Honey bees give many benefits for human. Benefits of honeybees that can useful for human are honey, royal jelly, propolis, venom, and bee wax. It cause the development of bee farms in the society. In Yogyakarta, there are bee farms in the Gunungkidul and Kulonprogo district. Honey bee in the bee farm is identified as Apis cerana. There are different ecosystem structure in Gunungkidul and Kulonprogo district, so in our hypothesis It can influences both morphological and morphometric worker honey bee. The question of the research is How the differences of the ecosystem influencing the A. cerana characters. The objectives this research are to measure the morphometric of A. cerana. and to determine the factors that influence the morphometric of A. cerana in Gunungkidul and Kulonprogo. The sample of the worker honey bees from the Farms transporting to Laboratory of Entomology, Faculty of Biology Universitas Gadjah Mada. Identification, measurement of the characters using supereyes, ruler, and image J program, analysing using SPSS appplication using T-test with probabilities 5%. The result of this research gave significant result for body weight, femur length, metatarsus length, and proboscis length. Morphometric differences of A. cerana in Gunungkidul and Kulonprogo is caused by environmental factors such as altitude, temperature, humidity, intensity of light, and also the vegetation around the stup of A. cerana.
