Abstract

Vaginoplasty is one of the most commonly performed gender-affirming surgeries. It is frequently the first operation sought by patients undergoing male-to-female surgical transition. It eliminates a major source of discomfort and distress and enjoys a high rate of patient satisfaction. It is a unique melding of gynecology, urology, and plastic surgery and, when well-executed, can produce an outcome that is aesthetically indistinguishable from a cis-vagina and functionally able to accommodate receptive penetrative sexual intercourse, urination while sitting, and erogenous sensation.
