Abstract

As you pen your own narrative or read those contained in this text, consider what your first impression of these patients might be. What would be your visceral snap judgment of the situation? Next, let go of that first impression, and take a moment to more deeply ponder and unpack what you think of the patient in relation to her/his race, sexual orientation, gender, socioeconomic status, language barriers, or disability.
