Abstract

Discrete event simulation is the most flexible simulation tool that analyses the dynamic nature of manufacturing systems and evaluates operating strategies for decision support in manufacturing applications. The modeling and simulation of agents’ structure for a job-shop manufacturing system (JMS) is presented in this chapter which provides basic framework to develop agent based system for JMS. This chapter mainly focuses on exploration and evaluation of SimEvents (a Simulink toolbox in Matlab) for analysing the structure of agents in a case of job-shop problem.
