Abstract

The article provides information about Halliwick Method in the U.S. It states that Halliwick is a method used by James McMillan, an engineer by profession, to develop techniques for helping individuals with disabilities to become independent swimmers. It infers that the method develops movement control and focuses on independent function, safety in and around water and enjoyment of aquatic activity to those individuals who are not able to achieve success within traditional swim lesson classes.
