This study aims to: 1) describe the description of the implementation of authentic assessment carried out in physics learning, 2) describe the teacher's expectations about authentic assessment in physics learning in Madrasah Aliyah. In this field study used a qualitative approach. The sample used was 4 (four) teachers in four public and private Madrasah Aliyah in Muna district. The instruments used were questionnaires and interviews. From the results of the questionnaires and interviews, information was obtained that the authentic assessment carried out by teachers at Madrasah Aliyah in learning physics had not been carried out thoroughly. The assessment has only been applied to knowledge competencies while skill competencies and attitude competencies have not been optimal. Teachers are hampered by too many criteria so that the time allocation is not enough. Therefore it is necessary to develop an instrument for assessing learning outcomes in skills and attitude competencies. Besides that, the assessment instrument developed can be used to measure several student competencies at once such as cognitive, affective and psychomotor to overcome the obstacles experienced by physics teachers at Madrasah Aliyah.
