Kajian Nilai Pendidikan Karakter dalam Simbolisme Visual Topeng Panji & Relevansinya pada Pembelajaran Apresiasi Seni Rupa di SMA

Abstract

This paper is a study of panji mask in Bobung Village, Patuk Sub-distrik, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta. The aims of this research are to explain education character value on Panji mask visual symbolism and fi nd relevance on fi ne art appreciation learning in SMA.This research used qualitative method. The data techniques collection used interview, observation and document analysis of mask museum collection, collections of artisans, and literature sources.The data then analyzed in some steps namely data reduction, data display, and conclusions. The result of research was as follows : (1) The visual symbolism of Panji masks include color, namely white, green, red, and yellow. Jamang consist of jamang rujen. Ayebrow consist of tanggalan eyebrow, and menjangan ranggah eyebrow. Eyes form consist of kedhelen aye, leyepan aye and thelengan aye. Nose consist of walimiring nose and pangotan nose. Mouth consist of prengesan, have a mustache, jawes, and nalatawon chin. (2) Character education value which is refl ected in the visual symbolism of Panji masks namely pure, loyal, fertility, peace, brave, anger, evil, vigilance, strong, softness, good, love, nimble, offi cer, leader, agile, honest, unyielding, valiant, smooth, rough, hard, wise, chivalrous, reliable, and cheerful. (3) There are 15 character values in curriculum 2013, and 28 character values on visual symbolism of Panji masks, so there are 8 pairs of character values that are relevant namely, peacefulness-peace, perwira-responsibillity, patient-grateful, fl abbiness-good manner, love-care, nimble-responsive, deft-proactive, and honest-honest behavior. In addition, Panji masks can be used for material alternative or fi ne art appreciation learning object.
