Abstract

Corrosion rate of zinc in KOH solutions has been measured under variety of conditions; amalgamation and presence of zincate ions lower this rate of corrosion; effect of increasing KOH concentration on rate of corrosion is different for nonamalgamated zinc than for amalgamated zinc; temperature effect is also different for two types of zinc electrodes; relevant to electric batteries.
