For more than a decade, the Danish Healthcare System has been in the process of a transformation towards a more coherent healthcare system, whose backbone are hospitals patients only use when they are in need of highly specialized care and extensive medical procedures. In the coherent healthcare system, hospital stays will be very short with both faster and more dynamic handovers between different actors in the healthcare system. Therefore, initiatives to increase the digitization of both hospitals and all other healthcare organizations, have for decades been ongoing in Denmark as a critical enabler for our future healthcare system.
