Abstract

The aim of the present work is to give a critical and detailed reflection on the effects of surgical resection of deep infiltrating endometriosis regarding reduction of symptoms, psychological well-being and quality of life. The current evidence strongly supports the effectiveness of radical laparoscopic resection in relieving endometriosis-associated symptoms and enhancing psychological well-being. In addition, studies suggest a general improvement of quality of life, however, further studies are needed to support this observation. © 2012 Future Medicine Ltd.
