Abstract

The environmental requirements of earthworm species in grassland ecosystems have been reviewed by Satchell (1958, 1967), Barley (1961), Gerard (1967), Bouché (1972), Lofty (1974) and Edwards and Lofty (1977). This chapter considers the physical, chemical and biotic effects of earthworms on managed temperate grassland soils and their effects on pasture yields.
