Errors in sonography

Abstract

Ultrasound (US) is particularly subject to errors, more than any other diagnostic imaging technique; indeed, the misinterpretation of images should be considered as a significant risk in US-based diagnosis [1]. Ultrasonography is highly operator-dependent, making it essential that the sonographer is properly trained in order to be able to implement the full diagnostic capabilities of the technique. The skill of the operator is based on the ability to maximize the diagnostic information available and to properly interpret the images.
