Regardless of the scale it is built at, the geometric principles of origami make it an architecture both constrained by the act of folding and imbued with dynamics by folding. From space stations to molecules, origami solutions are inspiring a new type of design that considers its deployment as an integral part of the structure. In this essay, I will explain some surprising similarities between the ancient art of folding paper origami and the folding of RNA at the nanoscale.
