Abstract

This article aims to analyze the possible differences and influences of the Program of Support for the Restructuration and Expansion of Federal Universities (Reuni) on the evolution of the performance indicators of the Brazilian Federal Higher Education Institutions (Ifes). This study aims to contribute to the analysis of the effects of Reuni on the intertemporal behavior of performance indicators in order to enhance the monitoring and social control actions of the implemented public policy. For this, the hypothesis test of differences between means was performed to verify if, statistically, the program influenced the performance indicators in the Ifes. The results showed increased spending to maintain new and reformed university structures, improvements in the level of postgraduate involvement and faculty qualifications, which reflected in the increase in the average concept of the courses evaluated by the Coordination of Improvement of Level Personnel Superior (Capes).
