Abstract

The forms of management in universities have evolved towards the incorporation of gender policies, in all their processes, with economic, social and environmental approaches. The objective outlined in this research is specified in substantiating the need to monitor the strategies linked to equity, equality and gender mainstreaming assumed by the institutions in charge of training future professionals, through audits with a social responsibility approach. The methodology applied in the research consisted of systematizing and synthesizing, through inductive and deductive methods, the general concepts on gender, University Social Responsibility and auditing, as well as their interrelationship, based on the bibliographical research carried out by the authors and researchers from various universities on the subject. As a result, it is found that the gender issue has reached valuable importance in the development of societies thanks to the advances made by women in the search for the claim of their rights in various fields. This supports the need to implement gender audits with a socially responsible approach within Ecuadorian universities.
