Abstract

Learning by example is an effective language learning technique. However, most language learning tools only provide a rather limited collection of example sentences and a simple searching-by-keyword interface, making example sentences that meet user demand difficult to find. To resolve this problem, this work introduces a Query By Sentence Pattern technique to provide a flexible query interface, and then proposes several algorithms to extract example sentences from the Web. Results of this study demonstrate that the proposed framework effectively searches for example sentences. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.
