Abstract

This article analyzes the presence of auxiliary teachers in the functional composition for the exercise of teaching in Child Education. The analysis of data from the School Census identified 162,200 auxiliary teachers in nurseries and 45,900 in preschool in 2019 (an increase of 66.5% compared to 2008), 34% among nursery professionals and 13% among preschool professionals. The results show the maintenance of a subordinate career for auxiliary teachers that updates problematizations linked to the qualification goals of Child Education involved with the professional development in this field.
