Abstract

In industrialised countries, nuclear power represents an alternative to the fossil energy resources, coal, gas, and oil. The International Atomic Energy Agency estimates that the share of power from nuclear sources in world aggregate energy consumption will remain unchanged at approximately 5% until 2020. © 2009 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.
