Abstract

In this paper the chemical sensing ability of aromatic salicylideneaniline Schiff-base (ASASB), synthesized solvent-free mechanochemically and characterized, was assessed via UV-Vis spectroscopic method together with naked-eye detection. Metal ions in aqueous medium from s, p and d-block elements were investigated based on chelation-induced colorimetric chemosensing. The result revealed that ASASB can be used as a new colorimetric chemosensor for selective detection of Cu2+ ion in aqueous solution.
