Abstract

Sleep health issues and sleep disorders regarding pediatric persons are discussed. Research has confirmed the need for healthy sleep for all persons, including those with chronic illnesses, such as cardiovascular disorders. Normal sleep parameters for pediatric persons are defined, and developmental perspectives of sleep disorders are considered. Various sleep disorders in different pediatric ages are reviewed from infants/toddlers to adolescents. An essential approach to caring for those with chronic illnesses is to improve their sleep hygiene and screen for as well as manage overt sleep disorders that may be present.
