Abstract

It cannot possibly be the objective of a short contribution like the present one to present a complete survey of such a large field of knowledge. Instead, this paper is intended to serve the purposes of presenting introductory information on the most prominent particle counting and size analysis techniques, giving references for the most frequent measuring tasks, and providing enough physical background for successfully approaching nonstandard problems, and problems most likely to be met in future.
