Writing a journal for some lecturers is not an easy thing. Journals are the output of research that should be produced by lecturers to fulfill the tridharma obligations of higher education. There are many obstacles or difficulties in writing journals, including lack of confidence or mastery of scientific writing methodologies. The realization of scientific work cannot be separated from the self-efficacy of the lecturers in addition to internal and external motivation. This study aims to determine the obstacles or difficulties in journal writing and their relationship to the role of self-efficacy. The core theories used in this study are the theory of self-efficacy and motivation. The data of this research were obtained from literature study and informal interviews of several lecturers, meanwhile, the method used is descriptive qualitative. The findings of this research will be beneficial as inputs to the management of the campus in improving their lecturers' self-efficacy in writing journals.
