This chapter is about a child’s desire to participate in play activities. The child, who happens to be disabled, needs his mum to fight his corner to be able to join in. It uses a play script to show the barriers that prevent the child from fully joining in these play activities. It discusses the ability of disabled children in the UK to access play activities and the impact this has upon the ability of their parents to access employment. Finally, the ability of disabled children to easily access both play and childcare activities is considered within the political context of the UK in 2016.
