This chapter analyzes multiple dimensions of demographic change of the Syrian-born population between 2010 and 2017 in Sweden. During this period, the Syrian-born population became the largest immigrant group, surpassing the Finnish-born that had previously been the largest immigrant group in the country for several decades. This chapter highlights the profound compositional shifts in age structure and educational level, among others, that the population underwent as a result of the infamous “Refugee Crisis”. What is clear from this demographic profile is that the Syrian-born population has already played a key role in the population change experienced in Sweden, and will continue to do so in the decades to come.
