Abstract

All the demographic parameters (maximal longevity, mean life expectancy at the onset and at the age of 70, life expectancy without disease, life expectancy without handicap) show that occidental men live longer and longer, say older and older. In hard and even impossible. Research rather aims to define whether an aging is normal (exclusively due to time) or pathologic (worsened by abnormal conditions). Concepts of successful aging and average aging raised up to progress in this way. The definition of standards slowly progress within research, however difficult, expensive, frequently showing risks of bias, and somewhat uncertainty concerning the applicability of the results.
