Abstract

Literacy is an absorption word from the English language, namely "literacy", which is defined as an individual's ability to read or write. The results of the 2018 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) study ranked Indonesia's PISA in 2018 down when compared to the 2015 PISA results. Indonesia was ranked 7th from the bottom (ranked 73) with an average score of 379. The purpose of this study was to analyze differences mathematical literacy skills in solving the problem of chance word problems between male and female students. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method. Respondents in this study were class XII TKJ 1 at SMK Negeri 2 Purwodadi consisting of 21 male students and 15 female students. The results of this study were that female students' communication skills and mathematical abilities were better than male students, while the ability to choose strategies to solve problems, the ability to use operations and symbolic language, the reasoning abilities of male students were better than female students.
