Abstract

This study analyzes the ability to manage EI (Emotional Intelligence) in university students from Colombia and Spain who practice relaxation techniques. Bivariate correlations were carried out between the study variables, sex, country of origin, the practice of relaxation techniques and their absence, and three EI factors. For the research, 285 university students were surveyed. The instrument used was the TMMS adapted (Trait Meta-Mood Scale) questionnaire. For the analysis of the results, T Student tests were carried out for independent samples, evidencing that, both in clarity and in repair with reference to sex, men reflected higher scores and in terms of country of origin, Colombian students reflected higher scores than the Spanish students. A Chi-square analysis was implemented to find out the differences between practicing or not practicing relaxation techniques taking into account gender, evidencing that these are more prevalent among men than among women and in terms of country, these are more frequent among Colombian students. The research showed that practicing or not practicing a relaxation technique is not related to any of the factors of emotional intelligence.
