Abstract

Adult male guanacos can be safely immobilized, using tiletamine/zolazepam. Duration of immobilization is sufficient to perform examinations and to allow collection of blood samples. Administration of tiletamine/zolazepam to guanacos apparently causes minimal adverse effects. Males recover quickly and are able to resume territorial behavior the same day.
