Goniotrephining with scleral flap, a surgical procedure discovered by Fronimopoulos, is a remarkable microsurgical improvement upon the classical Elliot's trephining. This is demonstrated by results in two clinics where a regulation of I.O.P. with an average of 13.8 mm Hg was achieved in 90.8% of a total number of 197 cases of wide angle glaucoma. The advantages of this method are found, on the one hand, in the rapid restoration of the anterior chamber due to covering the trephining hole with the scleral flap and, on the other hand, in the limited formation of the bleb with the same lowering effect on the I.O.P. as the classical Elliot's trephining.
