Abstract

This study proposes a simple benchmarking model for domestic water consumption correlated with its corresponding carbon dioxide (CO2) emission. The model was tested with a survey of average water consumption in 60 apartments of Hong Kong. The results were compared with the global fresh water consumption patterns to derive the water consumption and CO2 emission benchmarks for residential buildings in the region.
