The centralisation of neonatal care worldwide has necessitated the development of neonatal transport. This is evolving as a subspecialty in its own right with implications for education and governance. The goal is to ensure that the right babies are cared for in the right place at the right time and moved safely with the right team by the right mode of transport. This chapter describes the risks of transport and use of technology and service design strategies that may mitigate these.
