Abstract

In this paper a system for integrated furniture manufacturing is described. The upcoming international standard STEP was adopted to specify the product models. As an integration platform an object-oriented database system is used. The client/server architecture allows simultaneous access to the product data by different CIM tools. Various data access methods are provided by the system. Tools for design, process planning, shop floor control etc. were developed or adopted and communicate with the help of the information system. In this way a continuous information flow is realized which may link together the different sections of a furniture enterprise.
