Abstract

Cryopreservation of semen is a common procedure, both for autologous sperm banking and for donor sperm insemination. Additionally, new techniques employing semen banking are now common, including the use of epididymal aspirates and testicular biopsy specimens used for assisted reproductive therapies (ART). This chapter explores the regulatory, scientific, and practical aspects of sperm cryopreservation and banking. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2010.
