Highlights Highlight 1: For the first time, direct laser interference patterning has been demonstrated in a roll-to-roll process. Highlight 2: The down to 9 μm thin battery foils have been subjected to laser texturing using 12 ps pulsed sources. Highlight 3: A processing speed of 0.20 m2 min−1 has been demonstrated in a roll-to-roll process for metal materials. Highlight 4: An elongated top-hat profile has been achieved through the use of diffractive elements and cylindrical telescopes. Highlight 5: A two-fold increase in specific discharge capacity was measured at certain C-rates when DLIP was applied.
