Abstract

The main objective of this study is to assess the impact of a university teacher-training program at the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil-UCSG (Ecuador) and examine its influence on teaching-learning processes. The program is based on the following competences: communication, digital skills, innovation, research, and leadership. A mixed methodology is applied through the application of a questionnaire and discussion groups. The results show that progress in each competence is revealed by the significance of the difference between pre-tests and post-tests. There are improvements between the mastery shown at the beginning and at the end of the training model as exhibited by text content analyses performed in the discussion groups. It is concluded that the program applied enhances significant progress for teachers in each competence assessed, but especially in communication and digital skills.
