Abstract

It is necessary to understand the vibratory properties of a track and a wheel in order to evaluate the rolling noise. In this paper, focusing on the vibration of a wheel, we measured the accelerance of the corrugated wheel by the impact test. Then accelerometers were temporarily placed on the tire and web of the wheel of a vehicle which runs on a narrow gauge, we have measured the acceleration of the rolling wheel. In addition, we reported the vibratory properties of a wheel with a wheel flat and passing a turnout. © 2012 The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.
